Notices #9

Long before their wedding, our couple were told that their vicar was happy to have photos throughout the ceremony from the gallery, which runs along both sides and across the back of this particular church. The couple thought this was great, but this being a Church of England wedding, we interpreted that as "no photos at any time during the ceremony except what you can get from the gallery". What we didn't reckon on though was this notice at each end of it!
The forbidden territory starts about level with the first pews, which means that once the couple are at the top of the aisle, their photographer is lucky to get much more during the ceremony than a limited selection of shots of their backs and the top of their heads.
And as usual, I couldn't get a sensible answer to the question "why?". I did though learn that apparently this novel restriction isn't a consequence of the rector having had unfortunate experiences with wedding photographers, nor is there any spiritual basis for it ...
