Ann's Pudding Picture #7

Passion fruit tart with crème fraiche for Claire 'n' Kevin and their guests at Coq d'Argent last Saturday.

Timings #1

Here's a fairly ordinary example of how the theory and the practice of wedding day timings can differ. This was a civil ceremony and reception in the same venue, and there was actually nothing really exceptional happening here.
First time is the theory, second one (in brackets) is the practice
2.15 bride arrives at venue to see registrar (2.40)
2.30 ceremony starts (2.58)
3.00 to 4.15 drinks and formal photos (3.28 to 4.15)
4.15 guests move to dining room (4.30)
4.30 start meal (4.48)
The main point to note is that a late start to the ceremony never means a late start to the meal. It always means less time before it for socialising with your guests, and more pressure on your photographers to whistle through that list of formal family photos that you were certain you'd have more than enough time for.
This meal actually started 12 minutes early, not 18 minutes late, by the way. The caterer was in fact working all along on a 5pm start, having told both the couple and us 4.30 because he always assumes that all photographers take half an hour longer than they say they will ...
